'Vijay 59': Is Ilayathalapathy's Next Film Titled 'Vettri'?

The buzz in Kollywood is that Ilayathlapathy Vijay’s film with director Atlee has been inspired by DMDK leader Captain Vijayakanth and his 1990 film Sathriyan.

Sathriyan was a crime drama that was produced by director Mani Ratnam. Vijayakanth played a cop in the film and the villain was a corrupt politician.

However, when dna contacted director Atlee, he said, “No. It’s a rumour that Vijay 59 is based on Vijayakanth’s Sathriyan.”

There were reports earlier that someone from director Atlee’s team had confirmed this story.  But Atlee’s response puts an end to rumours that the movie will have a similar storyline to the 1990 cop drama.
