Vijay 59 is an upcoming Tamil action crime film written and directed by Atlee.^[1] The movie features Vijay in a dual role^[2] alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson,^[3] J. Mahendran as the main antagonist^[4] as well as Prabhu, K.S.Ravikumar and Raadhika Sarathkumar^[5] in supporting roles.The film, produced by V.Creations features background score and soundtrack composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar with cinematography handled by George C. Williams and editing is handled by Ruben while production designed by T. Muthuraj.^[6] The film expected to release on Pongal 2016.

The shooting of the film is said to be around 140 days and is expected to start from July 2015 till the end of the year. Atlee plans to shoot some shots in China. Samantha is said to be involved and plays the female lead.^[7] There are rumors that Vijay would feature as a police in the film.^[8] Shooting of the film to start on July 20 2015.^[9] The first schedule included an introductory song for Vijay without female leads.Samantha is to pair with Vijay after the critically acclaimed film Kaththi and would be a college-going student.^[10] Amy Jackson is said to join the sets at a later date. The scheduled shoot was mostly done on ECR (East Coast Road), Chennai and two night scenes were taken here. The total shoot was completed on the 18th of August. The next shoot is believed to be in Goa.^[11]
